PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE 

​

His professional practice consists of legal counseling and pleading at Uruguayan courts, in commercial, civil, administrative, and private international law matters.

​

He has been permanent legal counselor for several companies in Uruguay, related to different areas, such as: airport and port concessions, public transport services, oil exploration, viticulture, electronics, biomedicine, distribution and logistics.

 

2007–2019: Legal counselor and representative of Schuepbach Energy LLC (USA), which is developing onshore hydrocarbon exploration activities in Uruguay, under two exploration and exploitation contracts entered into with the Uruguayan State.

2012: Legal counsel of the Ministry of Education and Culture for the creation of the 'Museo del Tiempo' (Museum of Time).

2004: Local counsel for all legal procedures associated to the creation of the 'Institut Pasteur de Montevideo' in Uruguay.

2004 – to date: Legal counsel of 'Institut Pasteur de Montevideo'.

1998–1999: Member of the consultant team of FIEL Consultants to engage in the 'Development and Implementation of the New Institutional and Regulatory Framework for the Liquid Fuel and Natural Gas Industry' for the Ministry of Industry, Power, and Mining.

1997–1998: Consultant for the Ministry of Economy and Finance, subject to the 'Technical Cooperation and Reimbursable Agreement Nº815/OC-UR, between the Republic of Uruguay and the Inter-American Development Bank, in order to fund the Customs Authority Modernization Program'.

1993–2008: Former permanent legal counsel for 'Consorcio Aeropuertos Internacionales S.A.', concessionary of the International Airport of Punta del Este.

1991: External legal consultant for 'Compañía del Gas y Dique Seco de Montevideo Limitada', hired for the preparation of a solicitation document for the company's possible privatization of its services.

1986–2015: Legal counsel for the Embassy of France in Uruguay.

He acts as arbitrator, legal expert and lawyer of domestic and international arbitrations.

• 2000-2015: Member of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (Paris).

• Member of the group that drafted the International Commercial Arbitration Law, passed on July of 2018 (Law number 19.636).

• Member of the Institute of World Business Law, International Chamber of Commerce.

• Member of the Board of the 'Centro de Conciliación y Arbitraje de la Bolsa de Comercio de Montevideo, Corte de Arbitraje Internacional para el Mercosur' (Arbitration and Conciliation Center of the Montevideo Stock Exchange, International Arbitration Court for the Mercosur).

• 2000-2002: Coordinator of the Uruguayan delegation in the 'Grupo de Alto Nivel para el Perfeccionamiento del Sistema de Solución de Controversias del Mercosur' (High Level Group for the Improvement of Mercosur's Dispute Settlement System), which concluded with the drafting of the 'Protocolo de Olivos', signed by the Mercosur’s countries.
